Embracing Local Values, Shaping Global Successes: A Chronicle of Fuchs' Journey

Since its inception, Fuchs has embraced local values with reverence while navigating the dynamics of global competition within the framework of ethical principles. Over an illustrious 115-year history in Turkey, Fuchs has not only achieved numerous "firsts" but has also confidently flourished in its sector, fueled by the trade acumen and experience of four generations. Our onward journey continues as we project into the future, armed with our historical milestones, accolades, and commercial triumphs. To truly understand Fuchs' odyssey, let us delve into our history, a narrative that illuminates our present and guides our future endeavors:

  • Laying the Foundation: Textiles Pave the Way for Chemistry

In the year 1909, the inaugural generation of our family established the very first Fuchs company, embarking on the path of textile trade. Johann Fuchs, upon his arrival in Istanbul from Switzerland, could not have foreseen that his commercial venture, initially centered around textiles, would steadfastly follow the same trajectory for precisely 40 years.

  • Venturing into Chemical Raw Material Trade

The early 1950s witnessed Fuchs' evolution under the guidance of the second and third generations. Oscar and Jean Jules Fuchs marked an epoch by venturing into the trade of chemical raw materials. Agency relationships were forged, and our first representative offices in the textiles and chemicals sector sprang to life in Bucharest, Sofia, and Athens.

  • International Vision with the First Agency

Through the representation of Sachtleben, a prominent producer of chemical raw materials at that juncture, Fuchs attained an international vision. Sachtleben, known today as 'Huntsman' since 2015 and 'Venator' since 2018, proffers an extensive array of products including Titanium Dioxide, Barium Sulphate (Synthetic), and Lithopone.

  • Emerging as the Market Leader

Harnessing rational agency strategies and proactive initiatives, Fuchs unequivocally established itself as the market leader, particularly within the Paint and Varnish industry.

  • A Decade of Agency Triumphs

The 1960s etched remarkable chapters in Fuchs' chronicle, characterized by a sequence of agency triumphs. Among the notable feats, partnerships were secured with Reichhold in 1960, Herberts in 1965, and General Electric Plastics in 1968.

  • Entry into the Plastic Industry with EMS

Expanding our realm within the chemical raw material supply domain, Fuchs commenced the provision of "Engineering Plastics" products via the agency agreement with EMS in 1965. The partnership with EMS introduced Electrostatic Powder Coatings, while PRIMID unveiled a diverse range of Epoxy Hardeners and Adhesives for the Rubber Industry.

  • Another Agency Triumph: Wolff Walsrode

Fuchs initiated representation of Wolff Walsrode, a premier global producer of nitrocellulose. Subsequently, Wolff Walsrode became a part of Bayer.

  • Strategic Market Strategies by Fuchs

Fuchs showcased the products of our represented companies to the domestic market through exceptional sales and marketing strategies. Some manufacturers, inspired by Fuchs' success, even established their own offices in Turkey. Examples include General Electric Plastics (1968-1988) and DSM Polymers International (1975-1996).

  • Years of Industry Leadership

Building on our stronghold in the Paint and Coating sectors since the 1950s, Fuchs intensified investments in sales and logistics infrastructure, necessitated by burgeoning representative offices and distribution ventures.

  • Introducing Turkey to Water-Based Resins

Fuchs introduced Turkey to water-based resins, marking a significant milestone. Representing Johnson Polymer, a global leader in water-based resins, Fuchs unveiled Johnson Polymer's Joncryl and Jonwax products to the domestic market.

  • Strong Partnership in the Paint Industry

Fuchs forged an agency agreement with Tikkurila, a specialist in Tinting Coloring Systems for Decorative, Industrial Paints, and Thermoset Plastics. Tikkurila, known as Chromaflo since 2000, continues to operate.

    Harcros Chemicals Agency

Fuchs entered into an agency agreement with Harcros Chemicals, a frontrunner in PVC stabilizer products.

  • Fourth Generation and First Distributorships

In the early 1990s, led by Oskar Fuchs, the fourth-generation representative, Fuchs embarked on pioneering distributorship ventures. Synthomer and Sun Chemical marked seminal milestones. Synthomer supplies Polymer Emulsions for Technical Textile, Paint, and Construction Chemicals, while Sun Chemical contributes to Fuchs' trade network with Organic Pigments, Pearlescent Pigments, Metallic Pigments, and Pigment Dispersions.

  • Mühlmeier Distributorship

Mühlmeier, a producer of Grinding and Abrasive Beads in Ceramic, Glass, and Steel structures, joined Fuchs' distributorship network.
